Artist Chris Butler
About Chris
Chris graduated from university with a Combined Honours Degree in Art &
Design and English Literature in 2001. Since then he has worked steadily in
a constant aim to develop and progress his art. All of his work relies on
the photographic image as the initial stage of interpretation between lens,
artist and viewer, with one photographic print allowing for hundreds of
individual applications on canvas.
With his 'third eye' persistently at the ready, he is always on the look out
for a more obscure and refreshing approach to the capturing of the 'real'.
This documentation will be chosen to remain in print as a finished work, or
applied as the guide and inspiration for a series of abstract compositions.
Accordingly, Chris incorporates a series of techniques ranging from the use
of spray and acrylic paint, to the application of masking fluid, to create
the desired effect suggestive of the original photograph.
